Termite Inspections for Home Owners & Absentee Landlords

AS3660 series of standards Australia (Guidelines for protection of existing structures against subterranean termites) recommends the maximum period between professional termite inspections be 12 months.

Eradication of Live Termites

Termites if discovered in fences, retaining timbers, garden furniture, the house structure can all be "topically" treated by the use of Tran locatable toxicant baits, the direct physical destruction of the nest or liquid pyrethroid solutions. This treatment will not prevent attack from other termite colonies; it only eradicates the colony treated.

This method of treatment may be most suitable in cases wherethe nest is positively identified, remembering however, that the best form of termite protection is "whole of house" protection. Liquid soil treatments are the most easily recognisable & effective means of achieving this "whole of house" protection.
